Letter to
Congressman Bob Goodlatte
Janurary 20, 2003
To: Congressman, Bob Goodlatte
Virgina's Sixth District
Dear Congressman Bob Goodlatte:
Congressman, on behalf of the families and supporters of Conley Lane, We
respectfully request that you work to formalize a Federal investigation into
the tragic death of Conley Lane whom was killed by a drunk driver in a car
crash on December 11, 1992 in Jackson Wyoming.
The web site, www.jacksonholeinjustice.org was developed to give specifics
as to the injustice perpetrated against the two young men that were killed
in the vehicle that fateful night in Jackson Wyoming by a drunk driver. The
alleged driver of the other vehicle, David Yearsley, walked away unharmed
and was never charged with a crime when his BAC was determined to be .11.
That's not the worst of this story. Local law enforcement and elected
officials ignored evidence against this man because his father is a
prominent businessman and respected member of Jackson. The crime was covered
up via outrageous lies, mishandled evidence, sloppy investigative techniques
(if you could call it an investigation at all), perjury, and destruction of
evidence on the part of local officials. In fact, these officials had the
gull to manipulate the evidence to place responsibility on the deceased in
order to exonerate the local boy.
The manipulation of our Justice system in this case is appalling and
outrageous not to mention the horror that the families of the deceased have
lived. It's quite incredible that an injustice of this nature could occur in
our great nation. WE pride ourselves in our justice system in respect to the
rest of the world and any possible injustice must not be ignored but rather
eliminated. Our Justice system is by no means perfect and mistakes are made,
but to allow purposeful manipulation and corruption of our system, is to
turn our back on it, and this WE CAN NOT DO!
We bring this injustice to your attention so that you might see fit to help
us right a wrong, to not only help the families find the truth and bring
closure to this horror they suffer, but to bring attention to the great
injustice perpetrated against our Justice system. We appeal to your good
sense that you will find the outlandish events depicted on our web site as
appalling as we do and will take it upon yourself to evaluate and
investigate this incident. The facts speak for themselves.
Sincerely,
Jim Lane
"There is no crueler
tyranny than that which is exercised under cover of law, and with the colors
of justice"
